How long does it take to build an inground pool?
Eight to twelve weeks of construction for a gunite pool after permits and design, less for fiberglass, which arrives as a shell. Excavation, steel and plumbing, the shell, the tile and coping, the deck, the equipment and the finish, each with inspections between. Weather and permitting are the variables, and the season fills quickly — a pool started in spring is swimming by summer.
Gunite or fiberglass?
Gunite for any shape and size and a finish you choose, built on site and renovated indefinitely; fiberglass for a faster build, a smooth non-porous surface that is easier on chemicals, and a lower long-term cost, in the shapes the manufacturer offers. Vinyl liner is the budget option and the liner is replaced every decade or so. All three are built in Middle Tennessee; the site and the budget decide.
