What does a hot tub need to be installed?
A level pad that carries the weight — a full tub with people in it is heavy — a dedicated electrical circuit with a GFCI disconnect within sight, installed by a licensed electrician, and access for delivery. On a deck, the framing is checked for the load. Once those are in place the tub is set, filled and started in an afternoon.
How much does a hot tub cost to run?
A well-insulated tub with a good cover, kept at temperature, adds a modest amount to a monthly electricity bill — the cover is most of it, because heat lost from an uncovered tub is what runs the heater. Old tubs with poor insulation and tired covers cost noticeably more. Chemistry and filters are the other running cost, and both are small.
